Fate of ICI may be out next week, ES Recto says
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.'s decision on the fate of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) could be out next week, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said on Wednesday.
''Maybe next week,'' Recto told GMA News Online when asked when an announcement would be made about the fate of the independent body.
In a separate briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said Malacañang should decide on this matter this week.
''Malamang po, dahil kahapon po ay nakausap din po natin ang OES, at ang sabi natin ay kailangan po na magkaroon na po ng aksiyon itong week po na ito,'' Castro said.
(We talked to the OES yesterday, and we expressed the need to act on this issue this week.)
Marcos created the ICI in September last year following public outcry over the multi-million corruption of flood control projects in the country.
On January 16, Marcos said the work of the ICI is about to be finished and that it already investigated what needs to be probed in the flood control mess.
At present, the ICI has one commissioner – its chair, retired Justice Andres Reyes Jr.
Former ICI commissioner Rogelio “Babes” Singson resigned for health and security reasons in December 2025, while ex-ICI Commissioner Rossana Fajardo said she quit as she already completed the work she set out to accomplish. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
