DILG: Manhunt vs Atong Ang, wanted persons to be intensified with new initiatives

Security forces are setting up new initiatives to relaunch the manhunt operations against Atong Ang and other high-profile fugitives, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said on Wednesday.

“May moves na kaming ginagawa ng (We are making moves with the) security apparatus. So we’re putting up new initiatives. So we just talked about it last night,” Remulla said in a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum.

“So we have a big manhunt operation na gagawin (to do), to relaunch it. So the entire security apparatus of the government will be involved,” he added.

Remulla said among the wanted persons who will be subjected to manhunt operations are Ang, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag, and ex-police officer Rafael Dumlao III.

Ang was linked to the missing sabungero cases, while Bantag was linked to the death of broadcaster Percy Lapid. Dumlao was tagged in the murder of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo.

Several personalities linked to some of the country’s high-profile cases are still at large despite arrest warrants and ongoing manhunt operations as of January 15:

This includes ex-presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and Cassandra Li Ong who are both tagged in the in alleged scam hub run; and former lawmaker Zaldy Co in anomalous flood control projects. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
