DILG chief Remulla supports anti-political dynasty bill
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday expressed support for the proposed anti-political dynasty bill.
“Kung ano ang ipasa nila, doon ako. Kung sabihin nilang bawal na eh di tigil na kami. Okay na 'yun. We've been serving for ilang years na ba? Bibilangin ko ha. 31 years?” Remulla said at a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum.
(Whatever they pass, I'll support. If they say it is no longer allowed, then we will stop. That's okay. We've been serving for around 31 years?)
“We're proud of our achievements in Cavite. Cavite is the number one province in terms of growth. Wala naman akong kailangan ipagmalaki (I don’t need to brag),” he added.
Remulla said the passage of an anti-political dynasty law would be like a comet hitting the Earth, leading to an “extinction” of politicians from the same clans.
“Alam mo, ano 'yan eh, parang comet that hits the Earth. Tapos extinction event. Magkakaroon tayo ng extinction event. So mauubos kami lahat, us included. Kung kasama 'yan, eh di we're out. Say goodbye. Okay na 'yan,” he said.
(You know, what that is, it's like a comet that hits the Earth. Then an extinction event. We're going to have an extinction event. So we're all going to be wiped out, us included. If that happens, then we're out. Say goodbye. That's okay.)
The House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms on March 3 approved a proposed Anti-Political Dynasty bill, while the Senate committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation approved a similar bill on February 24.
