Sablayan escapee arrested — BuCor

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Thursday announced the re-arrest of a person deprived of liberty who escaped from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm.

According to BuCor, the PDL was re-arrested in Sitio Idarag, Barangay Sta. Lucia at 7:30 a.m. BuCor said that the PDL went missing on Tuesday afternoon.

This came after the Corrections Emergency Response Team received a report that an unidentified male stole a motorcycle, prompting hot pursuit operations.

“Our team acted promptly and efficiently, demonstrating our resolve to uphold order and security,” BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. said in a statement.

“Let this serve as a warning to all persons deprived of liberty: attempts to escape will not succeed. We will track you down and bring you back to justice,” he added.

BuCor said that it is coordinating with local law enforcement to gather additional information as its investigation continues.

“The Bureau appeals to the community for assistance in reporting suspicious activities and ensuring the continued safety of the area,” it said. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
