DTI allocates P2B business fund for OFWs
The Department of Trade and Industry has allocated P2 billion for the newly established OFW Negosyo Fund.
This initiative aims to strengthen the country’s economic resilience amid unpredictable global events.
“We are committed to opening doors for OFWs ready to come home and invest in their own country, especially when external crises force their hand," DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said in a press release on Thursday.
“Access to capital is often the biggest barrier during these uncertain transitions. Through DTI-SBCorp, we've tailored this fund to equip them with the resources to build, hire, and secure their families' futures—no matter the circumstances,” she added.
According to the agency, overseas Filipino workers can start availing this beginning March 12, 2026.
This will provide expanded financial assistance to OFWs, which will empower them to navigate sudden displacements from work abroad—including those triggered by the ongoing Middle East conflict.
This will also help them smoothly reintegrate at home by launching sustainable businesses.
The OFW Negosyo Fund offers:
- Loan Amount: From P30,000 to P20 million
- Grace Period: No payment of capital and interest for the first year on eligible products.
- Repayment Terms: Up to five years with flexible options.
- Collateral: Waived for loans up to P5 million.
The OFWs can apply seamlessly through the DTI-SBCorp Money App (on Google Play and Huawei AppGallery) or web app at app.sbcorp.ph.
The online registration for the loan facility can also be done through sbcorp.gov.ph.
Meanwhile, for hands-on support, they can visit any of the 1,431 Negosyo Centers across the country. —Anna Felicia Bajo/AOL, GMA Integrated News
