Denmark renews support for PH in beefing up national defense
Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin has reaffirmed Denmark’s support for the Philippines in strengthening its national defense and underscored the need for a broad approach to boosting its security capabilities.
Mellbin gave the reassurance during his presentation at the 2026 Security Lounge of the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) held on February 27, 2026 at the NDCP Honor Hall in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
According to a social media post of the Embassy of Denmark on Thursday, the envoy cited the importance of improving the country’s capabilities in supply-chain integrity, energy production, and domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Mellbin also underscored institutional resilience built on inter-agency coordination and public-private cooperation.
In a separate post, the NDCP said Mellbin’s presentation was on “force equalization and armed forces development to further fortify the country's defense and security.”
Colonel Raquel Vilchez, executive officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Systems Engineering and Modernization Office and Assistant Secretary Eleazer Ricote, deputy executive director of the Public-Private Partnerships Council of the Philippines, joined Mellbin during the discussions. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
