PhilHealth YAKAP's services, 75 free medicines: Who can avail and how

A mall in Cubao, Quezon City usually opens at 10 a.m. But even before 7 a.m. of Friday, several individuals, mostly senior citizens, were already allowed to enter the mall premises to queue in one of the clinics offering services of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP).

YAKAP services are available to all PhilHealth members. Among the services offered are primary care check up, laboratory tests, free medicines, and screening tests. 

Other individuals who can avail of YAKAP services include: 

  • House helpers
  • Indigents 
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
  • Self-earning individuals or professional practitioners 
  • Lifetime Members (Individuals aged 60 years and above, and have paid at least 120 monthly contributions) 
  • Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries 
  • Infants 
  • Overseas Filipino Workers 
  • Solo Parents 
  • Senior Citizens 
  • Individuals under 21 years old

A clinic attendant later made a roll call of everyone who signed on the sheet, checking on the services they would avail for the day. Some are scheduled for laboratory test, others for consultations, and the rest are seeking to get free medicines.

How to avail the YAKAP services? 

Secure your PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) - One must register first their membership to secure their PIN. It can be done through PhilHealth Member Portal or through any PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office. 

Register for PhilHealth YAKAP - Registration for YAKAP can be done through eGovPH App, PhilHealth Member Portal, any PhilHealth office, or your chosen YAKAP clinics. 

Avail the services - You can avail the free services on your chosen YAKAP clinics. As of January 2026, there are over 4,000 accredited YAKAP clinics nationwide.

You can only avail of the free laboratory or test services upon the recommendation of the doctor. 

If the laboratory is not available at your chosen YAKAP Clinic, you will be recommended to a partner diagnostic or laboratory. 

Likewise, the free medicines can only be availed based on the doctor’s prescription. Under YAKAP, each beneficiary is entitled to P20,000 worth of medicines. 

The free medicines are available in accredited Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment  (GAMOT) providers or pharmacies. Just present your prescription from your YAKAP doctor.

Go back to YAKAP clinic for follow-ups - Continue availing YAKAP’s services for follow-up consultations. 

 

 

75 free medicines 

PhilHealth earlier announced that 54 new drugs were offered for free under the GAMOT program, there are now 75 free medicines available.

PhilHealth spokesperson Israel Pargas said the expanded list of free medicines are currently available for now in Metro Manila and in Cebu. They are hoping to make it available in other areas. 

“Soon in another areas like [Region ] 4A, and hopefully within 2026 nationwide na siya,” he told GMA News Online.

PhilHealth also said earlier that YAKAP now offers screening tests for the four top cancers: breast, liver, lung, and colorectal.
