Tau Gamma Phi members in Cavite ‘hazing’ to undergo expulsion proceedings —frat spox
Members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity who were directly involved in the fatal hazing of 19-year-old freshman maritime student Kenneth Alcedo in Cavite will undergo expulsion proceedings, according to the fraternity’s spokesperson on Friday.
“Yung directly involved, yes, we will conduct expulsion proceedings towards the perpetrators,” Tau Gamma Phi spokesperson Martin Asturias said at a press conference.
He noted that the penalties on erring members depend on the seriousness of the offense, including verbal warning and suspension.
In cases of a neophyte’s death, Asturias said, “What we usually do is, or ang usually nangyayari is, local authorities take them in and then they afford themselves their own legal counsel. If not, sometimes the fraternity provides them if nasa tama yung kaso or yung problema.”

“And then from there, Iit all depends on the court kung ano yung magiging decision ng court. If they go to jail or if the case is thrown out or na-abswelto sila.”

Authorities are looking at 21 suspects and persons of interest in the incident.
One suspect surrendered to authorities while the other 20 are still at large. Another neophyte in the hazing incident named 17 of the suspects, while the other three are still John Does.
Alcedo on March 1 was brought to a hospital in General Trias by three individuals who initially claimed he was a victim of a hit-and-run.
The hazing incident allegedly took place in an open field area in Barangay Langkaan, Dasmariñas near several subdivisions, according to the police.
Based on autopsy results, the victim died due to severe blunt force trauma to the lower parts of his body.Alcedo sustained a hematoma with abrasion on the lip and a tooth fracture. He also suffered abrasions to his abdomen, fingers, knees, and toes, as well as hematoma on his leg.
