FL Liza Marcos says climbing 'Mt. Kamuning' felt like hiking
First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta-Marcos on Friday shared her experience on climbing the so-called ''Mt. Kamuning,'' comparing it to a hiking activity.
Liza and youngest son Vinny accompanied President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. during his Thursday's inspection of the NIA-Southbound-Scout Borromeo footbridge, as well as its replacement, the new Kamuning Footbridge and Busway Station.
''Before, many commuters called the old footbridge here “Mt. Kamuning.” One look at those endless steps and you’d understand why. As I was climbing it, it felt more like hiking than crossing the street,'' the First Lady said in a post.
''Today, things are different. The new Kamuning Footbridge and Busway Station makes crossing EDSA safer, easier and more accessible for everyone, especially for seniors, PWDs, pregnant women and parents with children. With elevators, better access to the busway and a more commuter-friendly design,'' she added.
The First Lady also underscored that making progress is simple.
''Fewer steps, safer crossings and a little less struggle in the everyday journey home,'' she said.
Marcos had said Mt. Kamuning would soon be demolished.
The President had ordered the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to implement the structure’s replacement with a safer, more inclusive, and commuter-friendly design that is aligned with universal accessibility standards.
The Kamuning Busway Station rehabilitation involves the upgrading of passenger facilities to enhance comfort, safety, and operational functionality. Improvements focused on platform expansion, universal accessibility, commuter/personnel amenities, and wayfinding and transit information systems. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
