Marcos vows more leadership opportunities for women on International Women's Day

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday vowed to create more opportunities for women to lead and recognized their potential as the country marked International Women’s Day.

“Rest assured that this administration remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure that every woman is heard, respected, and empowered in our society,” Marcos said in a statement.

“We will continue to open more spaces for women to lead and to recognize their full potential, so that their strength and vision may guide us in building a more just, inclusive, and hopeful Bagong Pilipinas,” he added.

The President described women as the “heartbeat of every nation” and honored their courage, wisdom, and vital role in nation-building.

“To be a woman is to carry many responsibilities at once. A Filipina does this with resilience and heart, turning obstacles into opportunities and hardship into hope,” he said.

In a social media post, Marcos also vowed to continue to “expand opportunities, protect rights, and ensure that every Filipina has access to the health, education, and livelihood programs” under his administration.

“The progress of our nation will always carry the imprint of the Filipina, and she deserves a government that works as hard as she does,” Marcos said.

Celebrated every March 8, International Women's Day honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
