GSIS, SSS to shift to 4-day work week for energy conservation
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Social Security System (SSS) will be observing a four-day onsite work week starting March 9 in line with the government’s energy conservation efforts.
The two government-run corporations made their announcements in their respective Facebook posts over the weekend.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the SSS said it will implement a flexible work arrangement (FWA) with a four-day onsite work week for its employees.
Its main office in Quezon City will have onsite work arrangements from Tuesdays to Fridays, with work-from-home (WFH) arrangements for employees on Mondays.
Its Makati City office will have a onsite work set-up from Monday to Thursday, with Friday as a WFH day for employees.
As for its branches, “member services remain available Monday to Friday through shifting work schedules,” the SSS said.
“Members are encouraged to use SSS digital services through www.sss.gov.ph, the My.SSS Portal, and the MySSS Mobile App for safe and convenient transactions anytime,” it added.
The GSIS, on the other hand, will adopt a four-day onsite work week from Mondays to Thursdays, with Fridays as a WFH day for its employees.
The GSIS service counters, including the lobby and pensioners lounge, will remain open from Monday to Friday through adjusted frontline shifts.
“GSIS will also utilize its existing solar power system to support office energy use on Fridays, further contributing to the agency’s energy conservation efforts,” it said in its own Facebook post on Saturday.
The GSIS and SSS are government-run corporations running pension funds and benefits for employees in the government and private sector, respectively.
Earlier, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the implementation of a four-day work week in offices under the executive branch as part of energy conservation efforts amid the Middle East conflict.
Other government agencies have followed suit with their respective announcements, while the Supreme Court (SC) has also announced its implementation of similar work arrangements for the judiciary. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
