The Department of Finance (DOF) on Tuesday ensured the continuous delivery of public service even with the adoption of special work arrangements in line with the government’s energy conservation efforts amid the global uncertainties.

The DOF said employees of the department and its attached agencies will report on-site from Monday to Thursday and work from home on Fridays starting Monday, March 9, 2026.

This will cover attached agencies such as the Bureaus of Internal Revenue (BIR), Customers (BOC), Local Government Finance (BLGF), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Insurance Commission (IC), Philippine Tax Academy (PTA), the National Tax Research Center (NTRC), the Privatization and Management Office (PMO), and the Central Board of Assessment Appeals (CBAA).

“Our priority is to maintain continuous and efficient public service for the people,” Finance Secretary Frederick Go said in an emailed statement.

“At the same time, through coordinated action across the DOF and its attached agencies, we are supporting the government’s broader push for energy efficiency, responsible resource use, and fiscal discipline,” he added.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. earlier announced a four-day onsite workweek for officers under the executive department, directing all agencies of the national government — including government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to reduce their electricity and fuel consumption.

The directive comes amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, leading to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping corridor. —RF, GMA Integrated News
