PH to allot P20M for UN Security Council seat bid
The Philippine government has allocated P20.78 million budget this year for the country’s campaign for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
This was according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro on Thursday.
Castro said the amount would be used for campaign purposes.
“Sa lahat ng klase ng pangangampaniya para po maipakita ng ating Pangulo na tayo po ay interesado na magkaroon ng non-permanent seat sa UN Security Council,” Castro said.
(This will be used in all forms of campaigning so that the President can show how interested we are in acquiring a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.)
The Philippines is eyeing a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2027 to 2028 term.
The elections for this seat will be held on June 3, 2026. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
