PCO enforces energy saving measures, adopts 4-day onsite work

The Presidential Communications Office has adopted energy conservation protocols in line with the directive of President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. to save energy amid oil price shocks.

Under a memorandum dated March 8, 2026 and signed by Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, all PCO personnel shall adopt a four-day onsite and one common work-from-home day arrangement, except for output-based contract of service personnel. 

The four-day onsite schedule from Monday to Thursday are as follows:

  • 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Personnel arriving after 9:30 a.m. will be considered late. Meanwhile, Fridays are designated as work-from-home day.

Overtime at the New Executive Building shall not be allowed from Friday to Sunday, and during holidays.

Employees working remotely shall remain accessible during official working hours and shall comply with applicable reporting requirements.

Meanwhile, office lights shall be switched on only at 7:00 a.m. and switched off at 7:00 p.m.. Air conditioning units shall also be operational from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a standard thermostat setting of 24 degrees centigrade.

Non-essential lights and other equipment shall be turned off during lunch breaks from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. and after office hours at 7:00 p.m..

The said arrangement would only be temporary, the memorandum stated. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
