Comelec to issue decision on Rodante Marcoleta’s case on Wednesday
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will release a decision involving Senator Rodante Marcoleta’s May 2025 statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) on Wednesday, according to chairperson George Garcia.
“Medyo mainit ang aming balitaktakan diyan sa en banc. Ngayong Miyerkules, asahan na magkakaroon ng desisyon ang komisyon,” Garcia told Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.
(We have an intense discussion regarding it at the en banc. By Wednesday, we expect the commission to reach a decision.)
Earlier this week, Comelec said it is facing “complications” in resolving the case involving Marcoleta after the Office of the Ombudsman referred a related complaint to Comelec, questioning both the lawmaker’s SOCE and statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).
Based on Marcoleta's SOCE, the senator spent P139.9 million on his 2025 senatorial campaign, far exceeding his declared SALN of P51,965,559. He declared zero donations.
“Inaalam pa namin kung 'yung issues na na-raise ay parehas na parehas dun sa aming iniimbestigahan,” Garcia told dzBB.
(We’re looking if the issues raised are similar to the case we’re investigating.)
Marcoleta previously admitted that he did not declare the contributions he received for the May 2025 elections in his SOCE, as his donors supposedly requested anonymity. —RF, GMA Integrated News
