DOJ chief urges employees to conserve energy, fuel at home
Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida on Monday called on Department of Justice (DOJ) employees and their families to conserve energy and fuel even while at home amid continuing tensions in the Middle East.
“Bring this spirit of stewardship to your families. In times of crisis, no action is too small to spark big change,” Vida said in a statement.
This comes as the Justice Department implements a four-day onsite workweek as part of its energy conservation efforts. Personnel will be onsite from Monday to Thursday while mandatory work-from-home days will be on Fridays.
This move is expected to generate an estimated 20,142 kilowatt-hours of energy savings per month, DOJ said.
"Together, as one DOJ family, we conquer every challenge. Lagi’t lagi, para sa ating mga pamilya at bayan," Vida said.
Last week, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. certified as urgent a bill granting him emergency powers to suspend or cut excise tax on fuel.
Meanwhile, the Senate counterpart of the measure was approved by the joint Senate committees on energy as well as ways and means on March 12. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
