Marcos pays last respects to ALC Group chair Dominic Cabangon
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has honored Dominic Edgard Angeles Cabangon, chairman of diversified conglomerate ALC Group of Companies, calling him a good and true friend.
Over the weekend, Marcos visited Cabangon's wake at The Heritage Park in Taguig City, where he gave a short message.
''In times of difficulty, in times of tension, when he would be there, he would always lift our spirits and he would always provide hope. Don't worry, it will be better,'' Marcos said.
''When things went well, and I took office, never did he come back and said to me, 'oh sige pahingi naman nito, tulungan mo 'yan, i-appoint mo naman ako sa ganito... never (Help me, appoint me in this position),'' he added.
Marcos said that whenever one loses a loved one, it is normal and understandable to be sad.
''But all of us will notice suddenly realize, that even we are sad, in the midst of our sadness, we still find reasons to smile and to laugh or remember the good times that we had with him,'' he said.
Marcos recalled that he never saw Cabangon ''without a smile on his face.''
''Even if he is now gone, he's still our friend and he will always be with us,'' Marcos said.
Cabangon passed away on March 8 at the age of 61.
Cabangon is survived by his partner Sharon Tan and his children Dominga Maritoni, Giannina Eunice, Dannica Nicole, and Antonio Carlos.
