VP Sara Duterte impeachment hearing proper begins March 25
The hearing proper on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte will start on March 25, 2026, House committee on justice chairperson and Batangas Second District Rep. Gerville Luistro said Wednesday.
This developed as the House of Representatives adopted a resolution giving the go-signal to the committee to continue the hearings on Duterte’s impeachment raps during recess.
Sessions in both the House of Representatives and the Senate will be suspended from March 21 to May 3, 2026.
“Our next hearing will be March 25. This will be intended for the hearing proper already, which means presentation of evidence and witnesses,” Luistro said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.
She said that subsequent hearings are also set on April 14, April 22, and April 29.
“At least we have four hearing days, which are predetermined already,” she added.
Luistro said that the House justice panel had to determine the dates early so that committee members could plan ahead and attend the hearings even during the session break.
“We actually have to do this because if you will remember, we are on recess. So we need to inform way ahead the members of the justice committee because itong recess na ito (this recess), they are taking advantage of this to address all their concerns in the district,” she explained.
The House committee on justice has convened today to continue the proceedings on the impeachment complaints against Sara Duterte.
On March 4, the House committee found the impeachment complaints against Duterte sufficient in substance.
The impeachment complaints mainly accuse the Vice President of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution, among others, over the alleged misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds, and threatening to kill President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his family. —Giselle Ombay/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
