Malaysian woman carrying P102-M worth of 'shabu' nabbed in NAIA
A foreign national carrying suspected shabu worth over P100 million was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1).
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said a Malaysian female passenger was apprehended after her luggage was found to have more or less 15,024 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱102,163,000.00.
"The operation, conducted at around 12:47 AM [on March 20] at the Arrival Lobby Custom X-Ray Area of NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City, was carried out by joint operatives of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group and the Aviation Security Unit of the PNP Aviation Security Group," the PNP said.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PNP added.
“Magandang halimbawa ito ng maayos na koordinasyon at pagiging alerto ng ating mga tauhan sa paliparan. Hindi natin hahayaan na magamit ang ating mga gateway para sa iligal na droga. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating pagbabantay,” said Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
(This is a good example of the proper coordination and alertness of our airport personnel. We will not allow our gateways to be used for illegal drugs. We will continue to intensify our vigilance.)
He added that the PNP will sustain intensified intelligence and interdiction operations, especially in major gateways, to ensure that drug syndicates are stopped at the borders. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
