LTO advisory

The Land Transportation Office on Saturday said there is no truth to reports going around that vehicle registration fees have gone up by 100%.

"ABISO SA PUBLIKO! WALANG KATOTOHANAN ANG KUMAKALAT NA MALING IMPORMASYON NA NAGTAAS ANG LTO NG 100% SA REHISTRO NG SASAKYAN," the LTO said in an advisory posted on social media.

(Public advisory! There is no truth to circulating misinformation that the LTO increased vehicle registration fees by 100%.)

(This is false information (fake news) going around that the Land Transportation Office has increased by 100% the fees for the registration of vehicles without any prior advisory, and amid the increase in fuel prices.)

(This is not true. The LTO continues to make its services affordable especially amid the present crisis affecting the country's economy.)

The agency said the payment for vehicle registration and other transactions are based on the guidelines and laws approved by the government, and there is no sudden rate increase without any prior announcement.

The LTO then asked the public not to share and not to immediately believe unverified news.

(The LTO aims to give excellent and affordable service to all citizens. We encourage everyone not to share or believe unverified information.)

The LTO said the public may visit their official website, social media pages, and authorized LTO district offices and extension centers to get official information about the fees charged and services offered by the agency. —KG, GMA Integrated News
