Ombudsman begins case inventory for improved efficiency

The Office of the Ombudsman has launched a physical inventory of all its pending cases to ensure efficient case monitoring and disposition.

In a public advisory dated March 23 and signed by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, the office called on complainants and respondents with pending cases or their authorized representatives to report their case details by the June 19, 2026 deadline.

“The Office of the Ombudsman is currently conducting a comprehensive physical inventory of all pending cases across its offices nationwide as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen records management, ensure accuracy of case documentation, and further enhance efficiency in case monitoring and disposition,” the advisory read.

“Concerned parties may send an email containing the following information to 2026caseinventory@ombudsman.gov.ph,” it added.

Remulla was appointed as Ombudsman on October 7, 2025, which means the physical inventory will be conducted five months since he assumed office.

Likewise, the advisory said that case information should include the following details:

  • Docket number (minimum information required)
  • Case title (if known)
  • Name of complainant and/or respondent
  • Office/unit where the case was filed (if known)
  • Latest correspondence or documents related to the case (if available) and
  • Relevant documents, pleadings, or official communications to facilitate verification and updating of records.

“All submissions will be treated solely for purposes of case verification and records updating in connection with the ongoing physical inventory,” it said.

For further inquiries, concerned parties may reach out to the Physical Inventory Committee Secretariat at +632 5317-8300 local 2222 or email 2026caseinventory@ombudsman.gov.ph. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
