Xavier University grad tops electronics engineers licensure exam

A graduate of Xavier University was the top scorer in the electronics engineers licensure examination held this month, while two test takers shared the top spot in the licensure exam for electronics technicians.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), 1,692 out of 2,746 passed the electronics engineers licensure exam and 1,907 out of 2,440 passed the electronics technicians licensure exam. Both were given by the Board of Electronics Engineering at test centers in Metro Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.

Carl Vincent Plarisan Malinao of Xavier University achieved the highest score in the electronics engineers licensure exam with 93.80%.

The top performing school with 20 or more examinees is Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas with 55 of 60 test takers passing, while the top performing schools with 10 to 19 examinees are University of the Philippines Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University and Mindanao State University- General Santos City, with a 100% passing rate for all three.

Electronics technicians

Herald Anthony Diamonon Cagas of Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas and John Carl Gotera Morillo of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College-Nabua, meanwhile, tied for top place in the licensure exam for electronics technicians, both scoring 94.00%.

The top performing schools in the electronics technicians licensure exam are:

• with 100 or more test takers - Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa with 126 of 143 examinees passing
• with 20 to 99 test takers - Central Philippine University with 32 of 33 examinees passing
• with 10 to 19 test takers - Mindanao State University-Ilagan Institute of Technology with all 18 test takers passing; De La Salle University-Dasmariñas with all 17 test takers passing; Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna with all 14 test takers passing; University of Mindanao Davao City with all 12 test takers passing; and University of the Philippines Diliman with all 12 test takers passing
