Edgardo Vistan reappointed as UP Diliman chancellor

Edgardo Carlo Vistan II has been reappointed as chancellor of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman and will serve for another three years until 2029.

UP Diliman made the announcement in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

The UP Board of Regents decided on Vistan’s reappointment during its 1407th meeting on Wednesday. Vistan will lead UP Diliman as its chancellor until April 2, 2029.

Then the dean of the UP College of Law, Vistan was first appointed in 2023, replacing outgoing chancellor Fidel Nemenzo, who served a three-year term from 2020 to 2023.

Vistan served as one of the pioneer faculty members of the Angeles University Foundation School of Law in 2006.

He transferred to the UP College of Law in 2015 before shortly taking a study leave for his Masters of Law program in Yale Law School in 2016. In 2017, Vistan was admitted to the university’s Doctor of the Science of Law program.

He was designated as director of the UP Office of Legal Aid (OLA) in 2019. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
