Ombudsman Remulla on filing flood control raps: Ngayong tag-init, iinit
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Thursday that his office is set to file high-profile flood control related cases that would make the dry season even hotter.
"Marami, marami 'yan. Marami susunod 'yan. Itong tag-init, iinit," Remulla said.
(You can expect a lot of cases to he filed. This summer, it is going to be hot.)
"Ngayong tag-init, iinit. Sinasabi ko sa inyo," he added.
(This season is about to get hotter, that is what I am telling you.)
Remulla, however did not give any timeline for the filing of cases.
"Hindi ko masasabi. Wala akong sasabihin ganyan. Basta itong tag-init, iinit talaga," Remulla said.
(I cannot say. I won't answer that. It's just that this summer is really going to be hot.)
Ombudsman prosecutors have filed three batches of flood control cases since the probe was launched in September 2024 which include:
- malversation and graft charges against resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and at least 15 others over the P289 million alleged substandard road dike project in Oriental Mindoro,
- malversation and graft charges against contractor Sarah Discaya and several others over the P96.5 million alleged ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental, and
- malversation and graft charges against contractor against former Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr., ex-Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez and five others over the alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
