7 cases filed vs hoarding, other violations amid rising fuel prices —PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has filed seven cases related to alleged fuel hoarding and other violations amid rising fuel prices due to the tensions in the Middle East.

At a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said three cases for hoarding were filed in Bicol and a similar case in Eastern Visayas.

A profiteering or overpricing complaint was filed in Eastern Visayas and Davao.

Meanwhile, a complaint for violation of trademark infringement was reported in Central Luzon, according to Tuaño.

On Saturday, the PNP reported the arrest of a 43-year-old man in an anti-illegal fuel sale operation in Ligao City, Albay on March 26.

Authorities carried out an entrapment operation that led to the apprehension of the suspect, who is the owner of the establishment involved.

According to the PNP, the arrest stemmed from alleged violation of Batas Pambansa Bilang 33, as amended, which penalizes illegal trading and distribution of petroleum products.

Confiscated were a fuel tanker truck, multiple storage containers, and an estimated 1,000 liters of gasoline, along with marked money used in the operation.

The total value of the seized items was around P2 million, the PNP said. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
