PNP: Almost 100k cops deployed for Holy Week 2026 security

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed almost 100,000 personnel nationwide as part of its full alert measures to maintain peace and order during the country’s observance of Holy Week. 

In a statement, the PNP said police officers have been deployed in churches, pilgrimage sites, beaches, resorts, and other vacation destinations. 

“We recognize the importance of Holy Week in the life of our people,” said PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

“Ang ating layunin ay masiguro ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa – manlalakbay man o mananampalataya (Our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone – whether they are travelers or believers). We want everyone to observe this sacred tradition with peace of mind,” he added.

Of the 148,193 security forces deployed, 98,636 are PNP officers, 12,507 are from other uniformed units, and 37,050 are force multipliers.

“We are not just present – we are proactive. Nakikipagtulungan kami sa bawat komunidad para maiwasan ang mga insidente at mapangalagaan ang kapayapaan (We are cooperating with every community to prevent incidents and maintain peace),” Nartatez added.

The PNP also urged the public to report suspicious activities, secure their personal belongings, and observe safety protocols while traveling. — JMA, GMA News
