LTFRB OKs bus company’s 10% fare discount from Good Friday to Easter Sunday
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has granted the request of a large bus company to grant a 10% discount to all passengers travelling from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.
In a statement, LTFRB chair Vigor Mendoza II said the approval, as provided for in Board Resolution 114, series of 2026, covers the operations of the passenger buses under the Yanson Group of Bus Companies.
These are: Vallacar Transit, Inc. which has Visayas and Mindanao routes; the Bachelor Express with Visayas and Mindanao routes; Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc., Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc, and Love Transport Express Mindanao, which all operate both in Mindanao;
Southern Bus Star, Sugbo Urban Transit and Love Visayas Transport Express, which operate in the Visayas; and Golden Bus Transit and Ceres Transport with nationwide operations.
Earlier, the Yanson Group informed the LTFRB of its intention to temporarily reduce fares by 10% “in line with the call for Bayanihan of the national government during the observance of Holy Week.”
Prices of petroleum products have increased by double-digit figures in recent weeks, prompting the government to distribute fuel subsidies to the transport sector.
Mendoza said the Yanson Group’s move to offer 10% fare discounts during the Holy Week will provide financial relief to travelers.
“We in the LTFRB recognize and appreciate the benevolent gesture of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies in extending assistance to the riding public,” he added. — JMA, GMA News
