PNP unveils over 5,000 newly procured equipment, vehicles

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday presented more than 5,000 newly procured equipment, including vehicles and operational gear, to boost police visibility and response nationwide.

A blessing ceremony was held at Camp Crame in Quezon City, led by PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

The newly acquired assets include:

  • 3,711 all-purpose waistcoat vests
  • 800 sets of civil disturbance management (CDM) equipment
  • 403 automated night vision devices
  • 600 units of non-lethal equipment
  • 117 personal carrier 4x4 vehicles
  • 71 light motorcycles

Nartatez said the new equipment would augment the capability of our patrollers or our units to deny the occurrence of focus crime.

According to him, the equipment would be immediately dispatched to various units in time for the expected surge of travelers during the Holy Week, summer vacation, and ASEAN meetings.

“This will be dispatched immediately…not only for tourist police units but it is also earmarked to be used for crime prevention, visibility, and various operations,” Nartatez said in an ambush interview.

Nartatez also shared plans to further enhance police capability in the next six months, including the procurement of around 700 additional motorcycles and body-worn cameras with radio communication features from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“This is a continuing one. We have P2 billion funds. Laging nire-release iyan every year (It is being released every year),” he said.

“We have crafted a proposal that is a capability enhancement program, mas in-enhance pa. Pinogram natin iyan in the next five years or 10 years, amounting to P112 billion. Iyon, medyo ideal na ang ating police force,” he added.
