DepEd to roll out orientations for three-term school calendar
The Department of Education (DepEd) will begin a series of orientation sessions this month to prepare school leaders and teachers for the rollout of a three-term school calendar in School Year 2026–2027.
In an announcement on Wednesday, DepEd said this aims to guide education stakeholders on policy and operational changes tied to the shift, which forms part of efforts to improve instructional planning and strengthen delivery of the K-to-12 curriculum.
The orientations will first be conducted for regional and division officials and school heads, followed by sessions for master teachers and classroom teachers in May.
DepEd said the timing ensures that teachers can fully observe their 30-day break in April and will not be required to report during their rest period.
The sessions will cover key areas such as assessment and grading, lesson planning, education in emergencies, flexible learning programs, and strengthened work immersion for senior high school students.
The department said the initiative is intended to provide clearer guidance and ensure a smoother transition as schools prepare for the next academic year.
Further details on schedules and participation guidelines are expected to be released in the coming weeks. —VAL, GMA News
