Passenger volume eases at NAIA Terminal 3 on Maundy Thursday
There were fewer passengers on Maundy Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 amid the Holy Week exodus of travelers.
According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report in “24 Oras,” some passengers did not expect the situation at the airport as compared to the past few days.
“Na-shock kami kasi sobrang aga talaga namin,” said Rachel Custodio.
(We were shocked because we arrived very early.)
Custodio, who is headed to Greece for work, is looking forward to her flight after it was cancelled five times.
“Ilang taon din kami nag-a-abroad tapos ngayon pa kung kailan may okasyon,” said
(We’ve been working abroad for many years, and yet it is happening now when there is a holiday.)
Although there were fewer passengers at bus terminals and airports, authorities are still implementing tight security measures.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) projected up to a 10% rise in passenger volume, or about 550,000 travelers passing through airports for the Lenten break.
This is higher than last year’s recorded 500,000 passengers. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA News
