Over 374K passengers monitored in ports on Maundy Thursday

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Good Friday reported a total of 374,867 passengers in ports across the country on Maundy Thursday as part of its monitoring for the Holy Week travel surge.

Based on PCG data, 183,517 passengers were outbound and 191,350 were inbound.

The PCG said 16 of its districts conducted inspections on 2,026 vessels and 2,179 motorbancas nationwide.

Heightened alert is in effect from March 28 to April 5 with PCG districts, stations, and sub-stations mobilized to manage the expected influx of passengers.

The public is advised to coordinate through PCG’s official communication channels for inquiries and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols during the Holy Week and summer vacation period. —VAL, GMA News
