Marcos on Good Friday: Live with compassion, greater faith
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. urged the public, especially the Catholic faithful, to live with greater faith and compassion as the Catholic faithful observes Good Friday.
''Today, we stand before the Cross. In silence, in reflection, in gratitude. For in it, we see a love that did not turn away from suffering, but chose to embrace it for each one of us,'' Marcos said in a social media post.
''May this day call us to live with greater faith, humility and compassion,'' the President added.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. It is a day that focuses on Jesus' sacrifice for the salvation of humanity before his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
On this day, the faithful may go to confession, pray the Stations of the Cross in churches, listen to the "Seven Last Words," and attend the Liturgy of the Lord's Passion or the Liturgy of the Word, veneration of the cross, as well as the Holy Communion. —VAL, GMA News
