PCG: Around 300K inbound, outbound passengers traveled during Good Friday
The Philippine Coast Guard said Saturday it monitored a total of 147,035 outbound passengers and 146,691 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide during Good Friday.
Further, the PCG reported that 16 PCG Districts have inspected 1,635 vessels and 2,657 motorbancas.
The agency said it placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from March 28, 2026 up to April 5, 2026 to handle the influx of port passengers.
Meanwhile, the PCG said it has monitored 60,492 outbound passengers and 49,574 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide as of 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Black Saturday.
Further,16 PCG Districts have inspected 574 vessels and 1,828 motorbancas.
In separate reports, the PCG said it also responded to a number of near-drowning incidents on Good Friday, including:
- 22-year-old male in the vicinity waters off Barangay Maura, Aparri, Cagayan
- 38-year-old male in the vicinity waters off Barangay Centro 1, Claveria, Cagayan
- 36-year-old male who attempted to swim while intoxicated along the shoreline of Southern Philippine Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), Davao Occidental
The PCG also provided immediate assistance to a tourist who experienced a medical emergency while onboard a motor banca enroute to Sepok Island, Tingloy, Batangas. —VAL, GMA News
