Marcos declares April 10 of each year as ‘DEPDev Day’
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared April 10 to 16 of every year as “Economy, Planning, and Development Week” and April 10 of each year as “DEPDev Day.”
This was contained in Proclamation 1205 signed by the President on March 30 and published on the Official Gazette website.
December 17 to 23 of each year was previously observed as “Socio-Economic Planning and Development Week” and December 23 as “NEDA Day” under Proclamation 666 issued in 1990.
In 2025, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) was reorganized into the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) under Republic Act 12145.
“In view of the reorganization of NEDA into DEPDev, there is a need to repeal Proclamation 666 to align with the agency’s new institutional framework and further promote public awareness and appreciation of the importance of socio-economic planning and development in advancing inclusive and sustainable national development,” Proclamation 1205 said.
The DEPDev was tasked to lead the observance of the Economy, Planning, and Development Week and DEPDev Day and identify programs, projects, and activities for the celebration.
The executive issuance urged all government agencies, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and the private sector to actively take part in the observance of DEPDev Day and Economy, Planning, and Development Week and support the DEPDev in this endeavor.
