The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said the number of closed gas stations amid rising fuel prices has reached 393.
"Kaugnay naman po sa patuloy na pag-monitor ng PNP ng mga gasoline stations. As of April 8, 2026, ang na-monitor po natin na sarado ay umabot na po ng 393," PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said at a press briefing.
(This is related to the PNP's ongoing monitoring of gasoline stations. As of April 8, 2026, the number of closed stations we have monitored has reached 393.)
The number of closed gas stations increased from 370 on Tuesday, according to Tuaño.
Most of the affected gas stations were reported in Cordillera Administrative Region with 79, followed by Cagayan Valley with 43, and Bicol with 36.
The PNP has been monitoring a total of 14,519 gas stations across the country.
Meanwhile, Tuaño said 15 cases involving 35 suspects have already been filed in connection with violations involving fuel-related activities in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Davao Region.
Among the offenses include hoarding, profiteering, illegal storage of diesel inside a house, estafa, and trademark infringement.
Earlier, the PNP said the Department of Energy (DOE) tapped the country's police force to help enforce regulations, particularly by monitoring gasoline stations that either refuse to sell fuel or impose unauthorized price hikes.
