Marcos elated with Our Lady of Guadalupe image donations from Mexican philanthropist
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday expressed appreciation to Mexican philanthropist Victor González Herrera for donating devotional images of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the 2026 Philippine pilgrimage.
The Presidential Communications Office said these devotional images highlight the spiritual and cultural significance for Filipino Catholics.
Scheduled to arrive in Manila on June 13, the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will begin a nationwide journey to more than 52 cathedrals and major shrines across the country.
This includes a visit during the 132nd CBCP Plenary in Ozamiz City before its permanent installation at the Manila Cathedral, the PCO said.
Part of the Novena Intercontinental Guadalupana (2025–2031), the pilgrimage is organized by the Guadalupe Pilgrimage Committee in coordination with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in preparation for the 500th anniversary of the Marian apparitions in 2031. —LDF, GMA News
