Marcos: PH, Holy See share faith in 75 years of diplomatic ties

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday joined leaders of the Catholic Church and the members of the diplomatic corps in marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the Holy See.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the reception – held at the Ayuntamiento de Manila in Intramuros – reaffirmed a “longstanding partnership rooted in faith, shared values, and cooperation for the common good.”

In posts on his social media accounts, Marcos noted that the Philippines and the Holy See shared more than diplomatic ties, but most importantly, faith.

“In times of uncertainty, Filipinos turn to prayer, to community and to a faith that continues to guide us forward. As we mark this milestone, we carry with us the same strength that has defined our nation through generations,” the President said.

“Our connection runs far deeper, rooted in over four centuries of Catholic presence here in the Philippines. And as such, it is especially fitting that we are commemorating this milestone here in historic Intramuros, the heart of Old Manila, where centuries of faith and history converge,” Marcos added in his remarks during the reception.
