2 Japanese men allegedly linked to fraud nabbed in Batangas
Two Japanese men with alleged ties to fraud were arrested during an operation in Batangas, said the Philippine National Police.
In a statement Thursday, PNP said the two fugitives are being linked to a telecom fraud syndicate operating in Cambodia that targeted Japanese citizens.
The foreigners were apprehended on Wednesday at around 6:30 p.m. in Lian, Batangas on the strength of deportation orders and arrest warrants issued by the Bureau of Immigration and the Omiya Summary Court in Japan.
“Foreign fugitives who attempt to hide in our country will be tracked and arrested. Our commitment is to ensure that justice is upheld and that our communities remain protected from organized crime… Hindi tayo papayag na gawing taguan ang Pilipinas ng mga dayuhang kriminal. Pananagutin sila sa batas, (We will not allow the Philippines to become a hiding place for foreign criminals. They will answer to the law.)” said PNP chief P/General Jose Melencio Nartatez.
“This operation demonstrates our continued cooperation with foreign partners to ensure that those involved in global fraud schemes are brought to justice… Patuloy ang ating pakikipag-ugnayan sa ibang bansa upang mapanagot ang mga sangkot sa ganitong krimen, (Our coordination with other countries will continue to ensure that people involved in these types of crimes will be held accountable.),” he added. —Jiselle Anne C.
