PH 911 Emergency System 60% complete with cutting-edge technologies
The Unified 911 Emergency Response System is nearly 60% complete and on track to become one of the most advanced emergency response systems in Asia.
The system will be implementing cutting-edge communication technologies in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), according to a news release.
The deployment of Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) technology by NGA (Next Generation Advanced) 911 Philippines allows first responders to connect with callers instantly.
A total of 15,000 PoC-enabled handheld devices and 77 dispatch consoles were sent to the BFP Headquarters in November and December for operational readiness.
The devices operate at 4G and 5G cellular networks, with superior audio clarity, intelligent noise suppression, priority-based communication, and secure transmission of images and data.
Meanwhile, the PNP also received 5,000 PoC licenses.
The full rollout of the Unified 911 System is targeted for the end of April.
“Within just seven months since its launch in September 2025, the project has reached nearly 60 percent completion—with major milestones delivered ahead of schedule. We remain fully committed to completing this initiative on time and in full,” said NGA 911 Philippines Country Head Robert Llaguno. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/LDF, GMA News
