The March 2026 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) results drew attention after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) left the topnotcher unnamed, listing the highest-ranked examinee simply as “name withheld.”

The move, while uncommon, falls within the Commission’s rules when an examinee’s result is not yet final.

In its official release, the PRC said some results were "withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations.”

Meanwhile, another name was also withheld “for further verification.”

Under PRC procedures, a "withheld result" indicates that an examinee has a computed rating but remains subject to review.

The result is therefore not yet final, and the Commission may defer releasing the examinee’s name and official standing until the process is completed.

Meanwhile, the absence of a name at Rank 1 suggests that the highest-rated examinee’s result is among those still under review.

Until the process is resolved, the PRC withholds the identity to ensure that results it releases are complete and final.

Once the review is finished, the Professional Regulation Commission may release the name and confirm the final rankings through an update or revised list.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on April 8 that 1,954 out of 2,781 passed the Physicians Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in N. C. R., Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena,Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao andZamboanga last March 2026. —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA News
