LTFRB to issue show cause order vs TNVS driver over lewd post about Xyriel Manabat

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Friday said it will issue a show-cause order against the transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver who posted lewd remarks about actress Xyriel Manabat online.

“Bukod po sa pagsuspinde ng TNC (Transport Network Company), ang LTFRB ay maglalabas ng show-cause order po dito sa driver na ‘to,” LTFRB board member Greg Pua said in a briefing.

“Na-identify na po natin kung sino ‘yung driver, sino ‘yung operator. Within the day, we will issue the necessary show-cause order,” he added.

This comes as a post of Boss Toyo Mansi of a photo of himself and Manabat circulated online, with remarks that sexualized the actress. The account has since been deleted, but screengrabs are available online.

Manabat has vowed to pursue action against the TNVS driver, and stressed that the post should not be dismissed as harmless or petty, and should not be something women experience on a daily basis.

“Now that I’m seeing this, I’m sure na (that) I’ll do something about it. Hindi dapat nagiging entertainment ‘yan (It should not be made entertainment) in any form. And at the same time, I hope the platform or the app should do something about this because it’s not petty.”

For its part, Grab Philippines said the driver-partner involved has been placed under preventive suspension pending results of an ongoing investigation, and that have issued a formal apology to Manabat for the incident which they described as “unacceptable.”

“What was reported is deeply concerning and does not reflect the standards we uphold on the platform,” it said.

"We are already in direct contact with Ms. Manabat, have offered our full support and ensured her concerns were heard. We are also prepared to cooperate fully with relevant authorities," it added.—AOL, GMA News
