DSWD distributes P105M cash relief to 21K tricycle drivers nationwide
Over 21,000 tricycle drivers received more than P105 million worth of cash relief assistance (CRA) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday.
According to a statement on Friday, the recipients of the payouts were tricycle drivers in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Negros Island Region (NIR), Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN.
More payout activities are expected in the coming weeks for cities outside Metro Manila.
“Sa mga susunod na araw, magsisimula na rin po ang mga DSWD Field Offices (FOs) sa regional rollout ng CRA para naman sa mga trike drivers sa iba’t ibang mga munisipalidad sa buong bansa," DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said.
(In the coming days, DSWD Field Offices (FOs) will also begin the regional rollout of CRA for trike drivers in different municipalities nationwide.)
Each driver received a P5,000 payout in response to the increasing price of fuel for Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers amid the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war.
Earlier, DSWD announced a special cash relief payout for unserved public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Metro Manila.
The activity shall cover transportation network vehicle services (TNVS) drivers, motorcycle (MC) taxi, and service delivery riders who were unable to claim on the initial payout date.
It said that they intended to finish the distribution of unserved PUV drivers in Metro Manila, along with tricycle drivers in other municipalities, in April. –Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA News
