Kiko Barzaga calls for Marcos ouster, says he's behind his imprisonment
Cavite Representative Kiko Barzaga on Tuesday called for the ouster of President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., claiming that the latter was behind his imprisonment.
''Pinakulong ako ni Marcos, pero lumalaban pa rin ako! Ang dami na niyang ninakaw galing sa flood control. Masyado na niyang pinataas ang presyo ng gasolina, kailangan na natin siyang tanggalin bilang Presidente!'' Barzaga said in a social media post.
(Marcos had me jailed but I'm still fighting! He stole a lot from flood control projects and allowed gasoline prices to spike. We need to oust him as President!)
GMA News Online reached out to Malacañang for comment on the lawmaker's claims and will publish it once available.
Barzaga surrendered to authorities on Monday night after a warrant of arrest was issued in connection with cyber libel charges filed against him. He posted bail at 10:25 p.m. and was released.
The arrest warrant was issued by Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 147.
To recall, businessman Enrique Razon, Deputy Speaker Antipolo Rep. Ronaldo Puno, and Manila Rep. Rolando Valeriano filed cyberlibel complaints against Barzaga over his Facebook post on January 9, in which he said, “NUP (National Unity Party) Congressmen received bribes from Enrique Razon in various gatherings in Solaire prior to the 2025 elections in exchange for supporting Speaker Martin Romualdez [of Leyte].”
Razon said that Barzaga’s Facebook posts are not protected political speech because they do not cover false and malicious statements. —AOL, GMA News
