Capiz trike driver wins P15M in March 25 Megalotto 6/45 draw

A tricycle driver from Capiz has claimed the P15 million jackpot prize that he won in the Megalotto 6/45 draw on March 25, capping three decades of placing bets in the hope of winning big.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said the tricycle driver – already in his 50s – never lost faith in playing lotto despite the long wait.

“Hindi po ako nawalan ng pag-asa. Naniniwala ako na darating ang tamang panahon at papalarin din akong manalo, basta patuloy lang ang pagtaya nang may paniniwala,” he said.

(I never lost hope. I believed that the right time will come and I will be fortunate enough to win, as long as I keep placing bets and I keep believing.)

On March 25, he became a millionaire after correctly guessing the 17-24-15-29-10-05 winning combination to that night’s Megalotto 6/45 draw. He paid P25 for his lotto ticket.

Before that fateful day, the lucky bettor used to depend on his earnings as a tricycle driver to sustain his family’s daily needs.

“Nakakaraos naman po sa pang-araw-araw na pagmamaneho. Kahit papaano, nakakasapat sa gastusin ng pamilya,” he said.

(We get by everyday through my job as a tricycle driver. It is somehow enough for my family’s expenses.)

He added that he will not indulge in luxuries after winning the P15 million jackpot prize.

The tricycle driver said he plans to pursue farming as a business – a dream that he set aside long ago due to financial constraints.

“Gagamitin ko po ang napanalunan ko para mag-umpisa ng negosyo sa farming. Gusto kong magkaroon ng mas matatag na kabuhayan para sa pamilya at makabuo ng pangmatagalang pagkakakitaan,” he said.

(I will use my winnings to start a farming business. I want a more stable livelihood for my family and have a long-term means of earning a living.)

Meanwhile, the PCSO reminded Filipinos to engage in responsible gaming and said lottery games are a form of entertainment, and not a means of financial survival.

The Megalotto 6/45 draws are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. — JMA, GMA News
