Marcos: Over 65,000 teachers, school heads promoted since August 2025
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said more than 65,000 teachers and school heads have been promoted under the government’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System.
Marcos made the announcement during the mass oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted teachers and principals in Eastern Visayas.
“Under the ECP System, teachers now have two distinct pathways: Classroom Teaching or School Administration. More importantly, it created new positions, including Teacher IV to Teacher VII, Master Teacher V to VI, and School Principal V, so that our teachers can advance their careers with clearer direction,” Marcos said in his speech in Tacloban City.
“Mula noong August 2025 hanggang ngayong Abril, more than 65,000 teachers at school heads ang ating na-promote na,” he added.
(From August 2025 to April 2026, more than 65,000 teachers and school heads have been promoted.)
The President said the promotions were well-deserved and would provide stability as educators advance in their careers.
“All of these changes we are making will strengthen our education system in the long run. These reforms will lift morale and retain our best teachers here in our country,” Marcos said.
“It will also ensure that experience and talent will remain in our schools as we offer them more opportunities and better compensation,” he added.
Aside from the promotions, the government has also rolled out other programs aimed at improving teachers’ welfare, including the creation and filling of thousands of new teaching positions, the establishment of non-teaching roles to ease administrative workloads, and the release of a full P10,000 teaching supply allowance for the school year 2025–2026.
Marcos witnessed the mass oath-taking of 2,121 newly promoted teachers and principals from Region VIII at the Tacloban City Convention Center. Of the total, 1,679 were promoted under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System, while 442 were promoted under the non-ECP track.—MCG, GMA News
