BSP adjusts working hours amid national energy emergency

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Thursday announced adjustments to its working hours, in line with government efforts to reduce energy consumption amid the Middle East crisis.

The central bank announced in an advisory that it will process check-clearing transactions at its Manila headquarters from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Onsite transactions that involve BSP-acquired real properties and receipt of physical mail and documents will continue at the BSP Hub in Manila from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Tellering services at the BSP’s headquarters in Manila, its Security Plant Complex in Quezon City, regional offices, and branches nationwide will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Thursday.

“Critical BSP offices will continue onsite public services from Monday to Friday, while non-frontline offices will adopt work-from-home arrangements on Mondays and Fridays,” the advisory read.

The government, starting March 9, 2026, adopted a four-day onsite workweek through a compressed workweek or a designated common day for work-from-home arrangements.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. last month declared a state of national energy emergency and ordered the adoption of a Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) to ensure energy supply stability and support key sectors such as transport, agriculture, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). —VBL, GMA News
