Jonvic Remulla: Interpol red notice issued vs Atong Ang

The Interpol red notice against businessman Atong Ang – who is facing charges for the missing sabungeros cases – was issued this week, Interior Jonvic Remulla said on Thursday.

“It (Interpol red notice) was issued this week,” Remulla told GMA News Online.

Earlier, the Interior Secretary said Ang was spotted in the Calabarzon area two weeks ago.

“Atong Ang has a Red Notice. He was spotted in Region 4A two weeks ago. Nakita siya (He was seen there),” Remulla told GMA News’ On Record in Unang Hirit.

“We had follow-up operations. We missed him by a day,” he added.

A check of the Interpol website showed that Ang’s name was not yet on the list of issued interpol red notices.

Remulla said Ang moves to different hideouts every three to five days to evade arrest.

At least 34 sabungeros went missing from various areas of Luzon between April 2021 and January 2022.

The disappearances happened in Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan, Rizal and Manila. At least one sabungero was confirmed to have been kidnapped from his home.

Earlier, whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan alleged that police officers were among those responsible for the abduction and killing of the missing sabungeros. He also tagged Ang and actress elebrity Gretchen Barretto to the disappearances.

Arrest warrants were issued against Ang and several others in connection with several counts of kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
