Garbin expects Zaldy Co to reveal all, calls for due process

Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Alfredo Garbin Jr. said he expects Elizaldy Co to disclose everything he knows once he returns to the Philippines following his arrest in Prague, Czech Republic.

"I expect that he will tell all," said Garbin, the former fellow nominee of Co in the party-list, in a statement to GMA News Online.

The lawmaker said Co, a key personality in the flood control anomalies involving several government projects, should be afforded due process.

"Marami pa siyang hindi nasasabi (He still has a lot to say). In due time and affording him due process under our law, then lahat masisiwalat niya (he can reveal everything)," Garbin said.

In a separate statement, Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon said Co can provide more information on the anomalous flood control projects in the country.

"Mabibigyan din siya ng pagkakataong harapin ang mga kasong nakasampa sa kanya sa Sandiganbayan (He will also be given the opportunity to face the charges against him before the Sandiganbayan)," he said.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday night announced Co's arrest in Prague in posts on his Facebook and X accounts.

“Nahuli na si Zaldy Co (Zaldy Co has been arrested). He is now detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities,” the President said.

He added that the Philippine government is in “close coordination with the Czech government to ensure that all legal processes are followed and to arrange for his return to the Philippines at the soonest possible time.”

Co resigned as a member of the House on September 29, 2025 following allegations of massive corruption in connection with flood control projects and insertions in the national budget, accusations that he repeatedly denied while abroad.
