175 passengers safe after PAL Express flight diverted to Iloilo —CAAP

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Monday confirmed that a PAL Express flight bound for Manila made an emergency diversion to Iloilo on Sunday due to a pressurization issue.

In a statement, CAAP said Flight GAP2544, which departed from Dumaguete, encountered the problem on the afternoon of April 19.

As a precaution, the crew declared an emergency and redirected the aircraft to Iloilo International Airport.

The aircraft landed safely at around 4:27 p.m.

“All 175 passengers on board, including three infants, disembarked safely,” the CAAP said.

“Several passengers requested for medical assistance, who were promptly attended to by airport medical personnel,” it added.

CAAP said it is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with the airline.

GMA News Online sought comment from PAL and will publish it once available.

“Reports indicate that the oxygen supply in the cabin was insufficient after the aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 32,000 ft,” PAL said in an advisory Sunday. —AOL, GMA News
