Marcos appoints ex-Navy commander Bernabe as MARINA deputy administrator
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Loumer Bernabe as deputy administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
Bernabe took his oath of office before Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
“In line with the President’s directive, Secretary Lopez has tasked Bernabe with prioritizing vessel safety, operational digitalization, seafarer welfare, industry modernization, and active stakeholder engagement through the Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC),” the DOTr said in a statement.
In 2021, Bernabe concluded his more than 30 years of military service as the Philippine Fleet's commander.
He then served as regional director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) from 2021 to 2025 and executive director until April 19, 2026. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA News
